Mikisew North LP is pleased to announce our role on the White Spruce Pipeline project near Fort McMurray, Alberta.
TransCanada plans to construct, own and operate a 72-km, 20-in. crude oil pipeline in Northern Alberta. The White Spruce Pipeline project would begin at a tie-in point northwest of Fort McKay, Alberta, and end approximately 45 km west of Fort McMurray. The pipeline would provide increased capacity, safe transport and market access for growing volumes of crude oil produced in the Athabasca Oil Sands. White Spruce Pipeline is designed to deliver crude oil to the Grand Rapids Pipeline (currently under construction) and on to markets in the Heartland Industrial and Edmonton areas. Projected in-service date for the project is early 2018.
Mikisew North completed the first phase of this project, which involved the construction of a 250 meter by 240 meter pad as well as two tanks foundations, in Fall 2016. The next phase of the project will consist of the design and installation of a 700 meter concrete containment wall placed around the tanks. The work will also include extending the existing pad by 6 meters to the north and east, installing geomembrane in the tank cells and final grade for the entire site. This project is scheduled for completion in late August 2017.
